As the institution leading the project in 2007, Innocel GmbH, now WFL Wirtschaftsförderung Lörrach GmbH, launched phaenovum as a typical public-private partnership with numerous actors from science, research, schools and school administrations to increase the interest of children and young people in science and technology and to provide career guidance. The region needs qualified professionals to secure and develop Lörrach in the long term as a science and business centre.
Since April 2007, phaenovum has been run by a non-profit association which people from science, business, administration and schools belong to. phaenovum Schülerforschungszentrum Lörrach-Dreiländereck is a non-profit association that finances itself through donations and sponsoring from companies. Lörrach Town also provides subsidies and supplies premises and management staff and free teaching hours from the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Innocel GmbH (now WFL Wirtschaftsförderung Lörrach GmbH) developed project phaenovum junior to mainly encourage playful interest in experimentation amongst primary school pupils early on in their development and arouse their interest in science and technology by doing so.
phaenovum junior has been successfully implemented at many primary schools in the district since the 2011/2012 school year.
This was made possible by financial support from Sparkasse Lörrach-Rheinfelden.
In the meantime, other organisations including Sparkasse Markgräflerland Foundation, Endress+Hauser InfoServe, Roche Pharma and Lörrach Rotary Club are supporting phaenovum junior.

phaenovum Workshop was called into life by and receives support from WFL Wirtschaftsförderung Lörrach GmbH, Lörrach Town and Lörrach employment agency. The support received from Sparkasse Lörrach-Rheinfelden, livetec engineering consulting in Lörrach and SBB Schäfer in Eimeldingen, the Lörrach district skilled trade association, skilled trade enterprises and companies from the region form an important basis for the project.
The project phaenovum workshop fosters and promotes the manual skills amongst pupils from all types of schools.
Since children and young people frequently have no access to a workshop at home, promoting skilled work is becoming increasingly important, especially against the background of the shortage of professionals. Interested pupils have the chance to develop themselves personally in all the areas that phaenovum covers.
